Everyone knows the benefits of joining the military are excellent However, when you go beyond the boundaries of duty, they're even more valuable. The Medal of Honor is not an easy task. A lot of recipients were awarded the Medal of Honor posthumously. A Monthly Pension and Special Retirement PaymentsMedal of Honor recipients receive monthly pension with annual cost-of-living increase in line with Social Security Administration's increases. This comes on top of any retirement or disability benefits. Enlisted military retirees who receive the medal also receive a 10% increase in retirement pay. Uniform Allowances The uniform allowance is intended to cover any damage to clothing caused by a treatment or medical condition that is related to service. The enlisted medal of Honor recipients also receive a supplemental uniform allowance, in addition to the uniform allowances they get from the VA. Parking spaces at n-Base In addition to access for life to base privileges like commissaries, exchanges and Morale Recreation and Welfare facilities for the recipient as well as their family members, they also have access to the best parking spaces when they visit. Their ID cards show their status as Medal of Honor recipients. Although many veterans are able to access these facilities, the Medal of Honor gets you access to the pool and gym at the base, along with other areas regular veterans cannot access. Priority Space-A Travel The same travel benefits afforded on military flights for military members on active duty, retired military members and their families is also offered to Medal of Honor recipients. Medal of Honour recipients enjoy priority access, which means that they are more likely than others to be able to board the plane. They can also take an extra seat on any other flight. A Medal of Honor Flag Each recipient receives a personalized, gold-fringed gift which recreates the medals suppliers 13 white star pattern on a powderblue background. Full Military Burial Honors Law affords the decedent of a Medal of Honor recipient the same burial privileges that a military personnel who has been killed while on active duty. This includes headstones and six pallbearers from the military, a bugler, chaplain and an officer in charge, as well as the right to be buried at Arlington National Cemetery.
